[Self-Love] The Art of Self-Rescue: Renovation – Don’t Be Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty Couldn’t Pull It Off, But YOU Can…

You have worked hard. Put yourself back together again. The Art of Self-Rescue is to RecognizeReclaim, Restore and finally, finally to Renovate.

Renovation: 1) Makes space for a new part of you,  2) Makes that “old” rejected bit new again AND 3) Builds something brand new. We can do all three!

You’ve followed these 4 R steps to balance and wholeness because the Art of Self-Rescue is the art of integration

Make Space

Make space for your lost treasures. Most of the times this will be emotional space (i.e. acceptance). Secondarily, it’s physical time. Your calendar is already full of the demands of “approved of you”. Someone has to share by shifting priorities.

If all you do is acknowledge that lost piece when you wake up and when you go to bed, that’s a fair beginning.

If you are a hyper-analytical Alpha, your creative, artistic side isn’t used to being allowed out! I’ll take a little bit for that part of you to realize you are serious about welcoming her back into the fold.

Say hello in the morning and wonder what “that you” is going to do today or wonder how that you will look at today’s agenda.  That says you’re welcome in my day.

Check in at night to see if what that you thought or noticed or wanted. See if your new piece felt more “in” today than yesterday.

Follow The Subtle Urges

You make this something “old” new, by beginning to actually use the traits that you previously abandoned. Give these fractured and neglected parts of you a chance at expression.

If you feel an urge, idea, thought or intuition to do something out of the ordinary – you really need to follow it. Be very careful, the impulses will feel fuzzy and subtle versus the concrete & pushy desires of your “popular” parts.

It’ll be very easy for your efficient self to decline, deny and rationalize these away. Show goodwill by looking for those subtle “requests“ from the parts of you you’ve abandoned and honor them as best you can.

One of the urges I’ve been honoring is exploring ways to braid and play with my hair. I cut off all of my chemically straightened hair 3 months ago. I’m growing out my own, now short, curly natural hair. It’s a brand new journey!

There is a huge part of me wants to research hair and experiment. I’m letting her! What could be more girlie than wanting to invest hours learning hair techniques on YouTube?!

Build Something New

And the new thing we want to bring in? Surrender. Ease back from the urge to control and simply LET whatever will come from all this work…appear.

You needed practice surrendering anyway. But really, this is uncharted territory. When you put back the pieces of you that are missing, it’s like an orchestra bringing back the brass section or the strings. The sound will be totally different. And you’re just going to have to sit down, let it play and listen and see what you hear.

My mother traits, domestic/nesting traits, student traits (PhD) and author/teacher 1-to-many traits have all been activated. I’m going to build with them, whatever they want.

Put these pieces together and practice The Art of Self-Rescue on yourself Alpha. No one else is coming to rescue you. One, because it’s not their job and two, because they can’t if they wanted to.

The things that you will learn on the journey back to the entirety of yourself, become tools that you will need for your purpose.

Nothing is wasted. I promise.

Tell me what you’ve found 🙂

P.S. I did the Restoration process a few days ago. I will not lie, it was hard to suddenly open up a space inside of me that contained so much grief and shame. I had NO clue I had that much buried pain. I stayed with it, because I owed myself that much.

And I cannot describe how much better I am for having done that emotional excavation using understanding. It triggered a natural flow of forgiveness after I let out what I found. I forgave me for shattering & scattering me.

P.P.S. My work always flows from life. I managed a miracle, finding a painter to work close to the holidays. Of course she’s an Alpha, with an Alpha daughter.

She didn’t know the coaching gifted while she painted would cost about 4x her fee 🙂 How fitting I am literally Renovating without as I Renovate WITHIN.

Look for my Thanksgiving email that will include a nice little gift for anyone seeking more Confidence in their life.
