Stop Pecking My Feet!
Don’t Bite the Hand (or Sandal!) that Feeds YOU.
I’m not used to chickens, so I’m not sure what’s going on. When I come into their pen for eggs, some of the chickens come right over and start trying to peck my feet!
Result: I leave faster, giving them less treats.
Where is your behavior making people WANT to leave you sooner and thus, give you FEWER TREATS?
Watch Out for Lashing OUT
Unfortunately, we are very used to taking out our stressors on those closest to us. Basically, when someone is important to us, we feel SAFE enough to act out and misbehave.
This means, that you often reserve your worst behaviors for those who give you the most.
As a high conflict divorce lawyer, I experienced this often. When my clients were stressed about things, they would take it out on ME, their lawyer!
I was the one in charge of securing their finances, protecting their children and making sure the crazy person they married didn’t wipe them out – but if they had a meltdown… Who did they scream at??
Make yourself a list of the top five people that “feed you”.
Do one list for family/friends and a second list for your business/work. Look at those 10 names and ask yourself how often you bite those hands… and
Awareness ALWAYS precedes change.
Be the “Best You” to the people who love you the most.
P.S. If you treat poorly those people who love you the most, long enough, you can lose those people. Then, you are left with the people you’ve pleased, but don’t really give a flip about you.
P.P.S. My husband is the BEST Chicken Dad! He’s pictured holding Nadia (who he named). She’s Alpha AND she loves me. She follows me around and as soon as I get ready to pick up my first chicken, it’ll be her! 5 chickens, 2 named.
