[Action] The 4 Shortcuts for Happiness: Pretty is Pretty Helpful #2

Having Pretty Spaces Really Does Help You Get HAPPY

Now for some fun! Redecorating what’s outside of you DOES make you feel good INSIDE!

We are talking about having more happiness. They used to say you can never be too rich or too thin. I’d say you can never be too happy! So if you are feeling good now, go for this boost. If you are struggling anywhere (and Alphas medal in Struggle) then you definitely want this shortcut!

Last Week – Happiness: Change Your Locale

Go Below the Surface

Everything correlates. I didn’t make up these Universal Laws, but I’m hella good at spotting them.

We’ll mention “the catch” first. You CANNOT just clean and clear your spaces (outside work) and expect THAT to do all the emotional (inside work). It won’t. That’s cheating.

You CAN use outside work, like space clearing, cleaning and decorating to JUMPSTART or BOOST inside work! That is totally allowed. To do it this way, I recommend you do some cleaning/decorating that has a “below the surface” aspect to it.

I kept clearing and cleaning my long kitchen counter. It would NOT stay clear. It was a magnet for stuff. Why? In part because I was doing a “surface-y” thing. What did I need to do that I was putting off? Deep clean the area above and below it. I did the bottom cabinets months ago. I just did the uppers last week. Cleared them down to empty and made space for my new systems & stuff.

Now the counter will stay cleaner because it’s whole area has had it’s energy changed. And? I feel soo much happier in my kitchen. We are getting ready for renovations but this work is helping me love what IS before anything is changed (super important!). Remember I’ve taught you if you love yourself BEFORE you try to lose weight, it will come off and stay off easier. Same thing with a counter!

Decorating is the Reward for the Heavy Lifting

You change your lifestyle and lose 40 lbs (Go Alpha A!), “decorating” that new body is the reward. You put in the invisible work and did the heavy lifting. Be careful if you find yourself decorating without the below the surface clean. The old phrase is don’t “put lipstick on a pig”. It’s still a pig people.

Pick something that is not just a surface change to your environment. You’ll know it by the resistance you have to doing it up right because it isn’t EASILY VISIBLE.

Just like our homes, we personally avoid doing the deep, inner work because we don’t think it’s “visible.” You don’t want to tackle your issues with your mom if she isn’t screaming at you right now. You don’t want to deal with the fact you don’t like your child’s friends, if she isn’t currently in trouble. You don’t want to address the rot on the back deck because you don’t have a family BBQ scheduled.

Make Something Pretty That Is Normally Hidden & Avoided

I’m here to tell you that organizing a single, unseen junk drawer will do more for your happiness than getting a fancy flower pot to sit on the front doorstep.

Need a super simple one? Give your toilet a deep clean. Lift that tank lid, go around the base, get on hands and knees to look for bowl stains from a different angle. Then when you are done, make it pretty! New floor mat? Unnecessarily overpriced, but smells so good you could eat it, reed diffuser for back of tank? Even those lavender deodorizing clip ins that you’ve debated.

Your INSIDE will respond most to the love and responsibility you show by handling the “not visible” issues FIRST before play.

Remember, vacations that don’t follow hard work, don’t FEEL the same.

Make something around you PRETTY but start with a bit that no one can see.

When my husband asked me what I’d been up to for hours and I pointed at the area, you could not SEE all the work I’d done but I FELT THE PRIDE OF IT.

Want More Happiness? Change What Is Kept Looking Back At YOU & Go Below the Surface to Do It

P.S. Last week we changed what you keep looking AT by changing places! My mate surprised me by coming home & taking us to have an after work drink on our barge (large flat work boat that hauls our heavy equipment) on the river instead of the living room or patio. This was a TINY change but it invigorated us! And no, he hadn’t read my post. THAT is the power of shifted energy. Your environment picks it up, reflects it and repeats it. Exactly what you WANT. So change your places and spaces.
